CASE STUDY
Project overview
The application was designed for exploring detailed facial anatomy and facial expressions. Instead of presenting anatomy as a static model, it lets users control individual structures, switch visualization modes, inspect annotations and navigate the face interactively.
A central challenge was supporting real anatomical asset structures. A single facial expression could combine skin, fat, muscles, eyes, eyelashes, skull and teeth across multiple static and skeletal meshes rather than one conventional animated character.
Gamelance built the Unreal Engine architecture around that complexity: anatomical-layer management, animated expressions, visibility controls, annotations, material-driven color visualization, interaction and a content pipeline the client team could maintain.
The application was iterated through client reviews, tested through TestFlight on iPad, delivered for Windows, and handed over with full source, documentation, recorded walkthroughs, team training and integration through the client’s Git repository.
