CASE STUDY
Project overview
The VR Kitchen Assessment was developed to explore whether virtual reality could accurately assess a person's understanding of workplace procedures. Users enter a commercial kitchen and independently complete tasks involving cleaning, hygiene, food handling, storage and waste management.
The application evaluates more than task completion. It tracks missed steps, incorrect sequences, contamination risks and procedural mistakes, connecting physical actions with assessment rules while maintaining a natural standalone VR experience.
Gamelance handled the Unreal Engine development and technical implementation, including interaction systems, assessment logic, session flow, event recording, performance reporting and optimization for Meta Quest 2.
The project was successfully delivered and expanded through multiple additional development phases as the assessment became more complex. After each session, the system produces detailed data covering completed and missed tasks, procedural mistakes and completion time.
